Coinbase has officially launched a new initiative to integrate artificial intelligence into the crypto economy by allowing AI agents to manage their own digital wallets. Through the Coinbase Developer Platform (CDP), developers can now provide AI bots with the capability to hold, send, and receive digital assets like USDC autonomously. Utilizing Multi-Party Computation (MPC) technology, these wallets allow AI agents to perform financial transactions without human intervention. This move is seen as a major step toward building a “Machine Economy,” where autonomous software can independently pay for computing power, data, and API services. Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong noted that giving AI agents financial agency is essential for the future of automated commerce and the evolution of the internet.
