Rui-Siang Lin, 24, also known by the alias “Pharoah,” the alleged founder and primary administrator of the notorious dark web narcotics marketplace Incognito Market, has been sentenced to 30 years in federal prison. The sentencing follows an intensive international investigation into the platform which operated between March 2020 and early 2024.

Incognito Market functioned as a sophisticated global hub for illicit drug trafficking, facilitating the sale of lethal narcotics including heroin, fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine. The marketplace mandated the exclusive use of cryptocurrencies, such as Bitcoin and Monero, for transactions to ensure vendor and buyer anonymity, using a complex escrow system that centralized funds before distribution.

Prosecutors revealed that the platform processed well over $100 million in illegal sales during its operational lifespan, with Lin personally profiting from commissions levied on every transaction. Lin was apprehended following his indictment on charges of narcotics conspiracy and money laundering conspiracy.

Authorities emphasized that the stringent 30-year sentence reflects the extreme danger posed by dark web enterprises that intentionally utilize encrypted networks and digital currencies to propagate widespread drug abuse and evade justice. In addition to the prison term, Lin faces mandatory forfeiture of all assets derived from his criminal activities, including millions of dollars in seized cryptocurrency.
