The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has announced the appointment of David Miller, a veteran former federal prosecutor, as the new Director of its Division of Enforcement. Miller, who previously served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, brings extensive experience in handling complex financial crimes, including securities and commodities fraud. This strategic hire comes as the CFTC significantly increases its focus on the digital asset market, which has become a primary area of enforcement activity for the agency. Chairman Rostin Behnam praised Miller’s deep legal expertise, noting that his leadership will be critical in maintaining market integrity and protecting consumers from fraud in both traditional and emerging financial sectors. As the agency continues to push for greater regulatory authority over cryptocurrency spot markets, Miller is expected to lead a more aggressive stance against non-compliant crypto platforms and fraudulent schemes.
