According to the data, transaction volumes linked to trafficking syndicates—particularly those operating forced labor camps and ‘pig butchering’ scams in Southeast Asia—saw a nearly 45% increase compared to the previous year. The report indicates that criminal organizations are increasingly favoring digital assets for cross-border settlements to evade traditional banking monitoring. While the transparency of blockchain technology has enabled law enforcement to freeze millions in illicit funds, the emergence of sophisticated obfuscation techniques, such as cross-chain bridges and privacy-focused protocols, continues to pose challenges.
