Tezos, the adaptive and energy-efficient blockchain network, has successfully activated its 16th protocol upgrade, codenamed “Tallinn.” This activation was achieved through Tezos’ unique, self-amending on-chain governance process, allowing for seamless integration without a disruptive hard fork.
The centerpiece of the Tallinn upgrade is a major overhaul of network latency, resulting in a dramatic reduction in block finality time. Following the successful activation, the targeted block time has been slashed to just 6 seconds. This represents a significant performance increase, improving transaction confirmation speed and overall throughput for the entire network.
This enhancement drastically improves the User Experience (UX) across all decentralized applications (DApps) and smart contracts built on Tezos. Faster finality is crucial for applications requiring rapid interaction, such as decentralized exchanges (DEXs) and high-frequency trading platforms.
