According to a recent report published by Ark Invest, the investment management firm led by Cathie Wood, the market capitalization of tokenized assets is projected to exceed $11 trillion by the end of the decade. This aggressive forecast is underpinned by the increasing adoption of blockchain technology across traditional financial markets, known as Real-World Asset (RWA) tokenization.
Ark Invest’s analysis highlights that tokenization significantly enhances market efficiency by providing instantaneous settlement, increased liquidity, and fractional ownership for previously illiquid assets. Key sectors expected to drive this growth include real estate, private equity, government bonds (T-Bills), and intellectual property.
The primary appeal of tokenization lies in democratizing access to high-value investments, reducing reliance on costly intermediaries, and improving overall market transparency via immutable ledger technology. While the current market for RWAs is still nascent, the integration of decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols and growing institutional interest is expected to accelerate the mainstream adoption required to hit the $11 trillion milestone within the next seven years.
